This July, Sarah and I will be participating in a 20-mile walk called Out of the Darkness Overnight. It is designed to help
shed light on the issue of suicide. Too often, suicide and depression are (taboo) subjects that people are afraid to talk
about. However, every 18 seconds in the U.S., someone dies by suicide. It is a subject we need to talk about. Net proceeds
from the walk benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, education, and awareness programs,
both to prevent suicide and to assist those touched by suicide. You can learn much more about this event and the cause by
visiting www.theovernight.org.

We are participating in the Out of the Darkness Overnight walk for two reasons. First, we want to honor and remember Dan,
and find a way to help others that are in his situation before it is too late. Second, and perhaps most important, we want
to support his wife and our good friend Michelle, who will also be walking.

We have so many happy memories with Dan - Sarah and Dan have been friends since their freshman year of college. Dan is one
of the nicest, smartest, most thoughtful, and most fun people we have ever known. The love he shared with Michelle was true
and unconditional, and they were perfect for each other. Nothing can describe the sadness of losing such a good friend, or
the heartache we feel for Michelle as she must rebuild her life without him.
